smiling
Luke has turned on the charm this week with loads of smiles. It started out as an occasional, almost fleeting thing, but by the end of week, I could count on smiles any time he was awake and aware of my presence. It's a good thing too. The nights of feeding every 1.5-2 hours has had him rather low on my favorite people list. The smiles make it all go away.

awake a lot
Luke's awake a lot during the day now. He's smiling, but I haven't caught it on camera yet, and he watches people move around the room, turning his whole head instead of just his eyes. He also squirms away from your fingers if you tickle his sides or back.
He's started kicking with some control lately. I don't know if this is a family trait, as his brother did the same and became famous in the family for his kicking skills, or if this is caused by this chair that Luke inherited from Timothy. Either way, it's nice to see that Luke likes to be active.

gaining weight
When I took Luke to the doctor for his two week check-up, he weighed in at 9 pounds 6 ounces, almost two pounds above his birth weight. He doesn't have another check-up until early March, but I can tell (everyone can tell) that he's still gaining weight. I put him on the scale with me and it showed that he's at 11 pounds now. With hourly feedings still common, I'm not surprised.
