Luke added
‘ig’ and ‘shee’ to his farm animal
words. We tried to get video of him
saying all four. He wanted to watch the
video, and as he set the figures on Paul’s leg in the video, he said their names
both on the video and live. Wanting to see video of himself is new.

halloween
The holiday was a bit lost on Luke, but he was happy to join us and did get the only sweet that he likes - suckers!
Luke is obsessed with shutting doors which was perfect because we knocked on a lot of doors.
He was ill in the night last night, so his matching bottoms are in the washer instead of on him.
He still likes the camera

counting
Every time we turn the camera on, he under performs. When the camera is out of sight, he's Mr. Eloquent. You'll have to take this for now and trust us when we say that he did it better just before and just after this.

another cook in the family
To quote Paul, Buzz took a minute off from saving the universe to cook a pancake. This is the first time that he's tried cooking, but he's obviously been watching because he knew exactly what to do with the bowl, badder and spatula. I'm so pleased to have another cook in the family!

a taste for rocks
We were always thankful that Luke didn't put things in his mouth. Tim was a nightmare about putting anything and everything he touched in his mouth from birth until well past two. Not Luke. We put away all the little toys that Tim had when Luke was born, but discovered by six months that we needn't have worried. He just wasn't interested. Little did we know that this was an indication or possibly the cause of an eating disorder that we are only now getting diagnosed and treated. My understanding is that he has sort of the opposite of an oral fixation. Although the specialist told us otherwise, we suspect that being tongue-tied had something to do with it. Today, four days after the operation to free his tongue, he put four small stones in his mouth while on our hike to Horsetooth Falls. He did it deliberately and almost systematically, AND he explored those stones with his tongue and teeth. Along with this, he put Paul's finger in his mouth just before bed time and explored it with his teeth and tongue. We're willing to loose a couple fingers to overzealous biting if he'll continue this. Um, maybe not. We're trying to be cautiously optimistic, but mostly we're over the moon.
bubbles
Luke loves bubbles. He will chase them and pop them, but his favorite thing to do is stand in the middle of as large a group as you can produce. With Tim around, that doesn't happen very often. As you can see from Luke's smile, this was one of those rare times when he felt surrounded (many of already popped). He has yet to learn how to blow, but I'm sure that's not long in coming.
